  • The Associate Degree of Business is the perfect way to start your degree in business at university. An associate degree is a qualification in its own right, but it is also a pathway to a bachelor degree. This means that the 16 courses that you study can count towards a bachelor degree.
  • In addition to the core courses, you can select between minors in Accounting, Economics, Emergent Leadership, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Management, or Marketing to suit your career goals.
  • It is best to have a chat with us before finalising your decision on courses. If you are considering moving into a bachelor degree on completion of your Associate Degree, your choice of courses may have an impact later.

Career outcomes

  • As a graduate you will have general business knowledge suitable for a career in the public or private sector, and dependent on the courses you studied, career opportunities in the disciplines of human resources, marketing, administration, eCommerce, small business management, finance and banking, politics and international relations, communications and media.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and
  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

If you have successfully completed MGT1101 Human Capabilities for Business available via UniSQ's Head Start program you are eligible to receive 5 rank adjustment points to your ATAR when applying for the Associate Degree of Business.

Tafe (VET) qualification

If you have completed a qualification from a TAFE or qualified private provider, you may be able to use these qualifications to meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

Work and life experience

You may be able to use your work experience and other adjustment factors to increase your selection rank and meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

If you identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent you may be eligible to enter the Indigenous Higher Education (IHEPP) program.

What are the entry requirements?

The entry requirements for an Associate Degree in Business will vary between universities.

How long does an Associate Degree of Business take to complete?
Associates Degree in Business typically takes about one to two years to complete, depending on where you study. At UniSQ this is a two-year degree when studied full-time.
What can I do with a business associate degree?
With a qualification like this there are so many possibilities! You could work in human resources, marketing, admin, ecommerce, finance, politics... the list goes on. Alternatively, after finishing your business associate degree you could complete further study – for example you might enter a Business and Management degree.   
Can I study an Associates Degree in Business course part-time?
