Pursue your passion for writing

In the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Creative and Critical Writing), you will complete courses in high-level research design and method. You will also complete a dissertation under the expert supervision of USQ academics, in an area of your interest. This is an ideal pathway to higher degree research, and postgraduate study. 

Research within Creative and Critical Writing provides the opportunity to focus on the various genres, forms and styles of writing available.

Writing and communications are becoming ever more important in a fast paced world with a 24/7 world-wide information exchange. This degree will give you the grounding for a career in creative or professional writing, media, editing and publishing and will also serve as a pathway to further study such as a Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy.

You may not have to pay your course (subject) fees upfront. HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allows you to defer your fees until your income reaches a certain level.

Entry Requirements

  • Subject pre-requisite: English (4, SA) or equivalent
  • Completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Arts or a related discipline, with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0.

English Language Requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Applying directly to USQ:

  • Semester 1, 2018 - applications close Monday 19 February, with semester 1 commencing on Monday 26 February 2018.
  • Semester 2, 2018 - applications close Monday 2 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 16 July 2018.

Credit for previous study or work experience

You may be eligible for credit if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
