Overview

  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the way support is provided to Australians with a disability, their families and carers. The NDIS has increased demand in the disability sector’s workforce and therefore employment opportunities for you.
  • Gain the skills needed to lead organisations that deliver high quality services to meet the needs of people with disability.
  • This specialised degree is ideal if you’re already working in the disability sector and looking to advance your career, or if you’re a professional transferring into disability services from another sector.
  • You will learn about disability services, understand regulations within the NDIS, ethical practice, decision making, leadership and management and legislative policy and practice related to disability services.

Further study

After completing the Graduate Certificate of Business (NDIS Studies), you can apply for credit to go on to complete the Graduate Diploma of Business, Master of Business Administration or Master of Project Management.

Career outcomes

  • After graduating you will have the skills to support NDIS recipients to make independent choices, while ensuring organisations have appropriate qualified staff to support others in the workplace.
  • Careers may include leadership roles to develop and manage change including small and medium initiatives. Relevant positions may include local area coordinator (LAC), support coordinator or plan manager.

Entry requirements

  • Completion of an Australian university Bachelor degree in any area, or equivalent.
    or
  • A minimum of five years’ professional work experience, or equivalent. Further information on admission through work experience is available.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
