Are you a health professional looking to acquire practical skills in clinical supervision? USQ’s Graduate Certificate of Counselling (Clinical Supervision) will further develop your supervision skills and knowledge acquisition. You will gain knowledge of current models of supervision and develop these skills through a field experience practicum.
Further study
After completing the Graduate Certificate of Counselling, you have the option to take the credit you receive from your studies and go on to complete USQ’s Graduate Diploma of Counselling or the Master of Counselling.Professional accreditation
Our Clinical Supervision, Foundations of Practice and Mental Health Counselling specialisations are designed to meet the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) standards and competencies.
Other specialisations for the Graduate Certificate of Counselling include: Alcohol and Drug Studies, Child, Youth and Family Therapy, Foundations of Practice (available from 2017) and Mental Health Counselling.
If you are enrolled in the External study mode in this degree, you will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials, use the facilities and meet staff and other students.

Entry Requirements
- A three-year bachelor's degree in counselling, social work, psychology, or related area from a recognised university.
- Be a provisional or full member with a relevant professional body (e.g. counselling, social work, psychology, psychiatry).
- Participate in an interview (in person or online). Selection Criteria addressed in interview:
- demonstrates sufficient depth of counselling experience and knowledge
- demonstrates sufficient understanding of, and commitment to, ethical behaviour and displays sound ethical judgement
- demonstrates sufficient interpersonal effectiveness, openness to feedback and a history of engaging in reflective practice.
English Language Requirements
You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
