Overview

  • Gain the foundational specialist knowledge and skills to work with students with learning difficulties.
  • There is a specific focus on trauma-informed practice, autism, spectrum disorder, differentiation and wellbeing in this Graduate Certificate.
  • Learn to apply the concept of differentiation and critically analyse its place in inclusive education, and discover multilevel strategies for mental health promotion and intervention in educational contexts.
  • For 2021, this degree is Commonwealth supported which means it is offered at a reduced cost. The Australian Government makes a contribution towards the cost of a student’s degree.

Further study

You can take the four units of credit from this qualification and use it as an entry point to the Graduate Diploma of Education (Special and Inclusive Education) or the Master of Education (Special and Inclusive Education), which equips graduates with research skills that can be applied to a research project in special education work contexts.

This specialisation does not qualify you for teacher registration in Queensland. You can qualify for teacher registration in Queensland with the Master of Learning and Teaching (Early Years), Master of Learning and Teaching (Primary) or Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary).

  • Completion of a 3-year bachelor degree from an Australian university, or equivalent.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
