Improve your teaching skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics 

STEM education is critically important for our current and future understanding and productivity. The interdisciplinary and applied approach to teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics integrates the different curriculum areas from a problem solving approach.

Due to continual advances in technology, the way students learn, connect and interact on a daily basis are continually changing.

Gain the knowledge to ensure your students are challenged to become successful critical and creative thinkers of the 21st century.

Further Study

After completing the Graduate Certificate of Education (STEM Education) with a minimum GPA of 4.0, you will have the option to take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Education

If you do not achieve a GPA of 4.0, you may have the option to continue your studies with a Graduate Diploma of Education before moving on to a Master of Education (provided other program entry requirements are met). 

Note: This program does not qualify you for teacher registration in Queensland. To qualify for teacher registration in Queensland, please refer to the Master of Learning and Teaching.

The Graduate Certificate of Education (STEM Education) will prepare graduates to implement effective STEM pedagogies and develop contemporary STEM education programs.

Entry Requirements

  • 3-year bachelor degree from an Australian university or equivalent.

English Language Requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

  • Semester 1, 2020 - applications close Friday 6 March, with semester 1 commencing on Monday 24 February 2020.
  • Semester 2, 2020 - applications close Friday 24 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 13 July 2020.
  • Semester 3, 2020 - applications close Friday 20 November, with semester 3 commencing on Monday 16 November 2020.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
