USQ’s Graduate Certificate of Education (TESOL) (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is designed for practitioners who are aspiring leaders in the field of English language teaching. This specialisation will broaden your knowledge of the importance of language and your knowledge of contemporary English language teaching methodology.
After completing the Graduate Certificate of Education (TESOL) with a minimum GPA of 4.0, you will have the option to take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Education (TESOL).
If you do not achieve a GPA of 4.0, you may have the option to continue your studies with a Graduate Diploma of Education (TESOL) before moving on to a Master of Education (TESOL) (provided other program entry requirements are met).
Note: This program does not qualify you for teacher registration in Queensland. To qualify for teacher registration in Queensland, please refer to the Master of Learning and Teaching.

This program includes a compulsory professional experience component that may involve travel, accommodation and meal expenses.
- Pre-requisite: 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, from a recognised university
- 3-year bachelor degree from an Australian university or equivalent.
English Language Requirements
You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
Pathway programs are also available if you don't meet the English entry requirements mentioned above.
