Overview

  • USQ’s Graduate Certificate of Education (TESOL) is designed for aspiring leaders in the field of English language teaching. It extends skills and knowledge to the ways in which language is acquired, learned and used in a variety of contexts among a range of age groups.
  • You will have the opportunity to study aspects Language, Acquisition & Learning and Teaching with a choice from language assessment, digital technologies and multimedia, applications to language and literacy assessment and language program management, and the finer skills in teaching younger learners and adults, incorporating skills for teaching curriculum in languages other than English with an additional option of 20-hour TESOL practicum.
  • Broaden your knowledge of the importance of language and your knowledge of contemporary English language teaching methodology.
  • This specialisation does not qualify you for teacher registration in Queensland. You can qualify for teacher registration in Queensland with the Master of Learning and Teaching.

Entry requirements

  • 3-year bachelor degree from an Australian university or equivalent

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
