Overview

  • Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science (Mechanical) is ideal if you have a three year engineering degree and you want to extend your knowledge in Mechanical Engineering.
  • You don’t even need work experience to commence your postgraduate studies in this degree.
  • If you studied your undergraduate degree in a different area of engineering, this degree will allow you to change your career path and specialise in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Build on your problem-solving skills and learn more about dynamics, system design, and fluid mechanics. You will study advanced-level mechanical engineering, allowing you to design, inspect, manage and test technologies, systems and procedures.

Further study

When you complete your Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science you could take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science. You could even go on to complete the Master of Engineering Science where you will have the opportunity to do a research project and dissertation to apply your formal knowledge to a real world issue.

Professional accreditation

Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science is not accredited by any professional bodies other than the University of Southern Queensland. It does however provide a pathway to the Master of Engineering Science which is provisionally accredited with Engineers Australia for membership as a graduate Professional Engineer.

Entry requirements

  • Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in the relevant specialisation, or equivalent.
    or
  • Australian university four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in a non-related specialisation, or equivalent.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
