Overview

The Master of Engineering Science (Engineering Management and Enterprise) is ideal if you have a three or four year engineering degree and want to broaden your career options.
  • Throughout this degree there is an emphasis on practical experience and preparing you thoroughly to take the next step in your engineering career. You will also have the opportunity to apply your formal knowledge to a real world problem by completing a research project and dissertation.

Further study

Master of Engineering Science graduates are eligible to be considered for higher research degrees such as PhD studies.

Entry requirements

  • Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in the relevant specialisation, or equivalent.
    Or
  • Australian university four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in a non-related specialisation, or equivalent.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

If you do not meet foundation specialisation knowledge you may need to substitute courses in the standard pattern in lieu of any course credit.

Professional experience

As part of your Master of Engineering Science Degree you will need to complete a minimum of 60 days of professional experience. However, some students may have been already been employed in industries relevant to their studies and may be able to write up that work to meet this requirement. These experiences provide you with opportunities to put theory into practice.

All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of practical experience within this program.

Residential schools

This degree has a mandatory attendance requirement for some of the residential and practical school courses.

If you are enrolled in the External study mode in this degree it is mandatory you attend on-campus for several residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face practicals and tutorials, use the facilities and meet staff and other students.

Residential schools are one week long intensive sessions held periodically across a program of study, and provided free to students to complete the practical requirements of their program.

You may not have to pay your course (subject) fees upfront. HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allows you to defer your fees until your income reaches a certain level. Find out if you are eligible for HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP.
