Fascinated by narrative and creativity, Daniel graduated from UniSQ with a Bachelor of Mass Communication (Media Production and Journalism). During his final semester, Daniel began his career as a Trainee Director at WIN Television Toowoomba, which soon saw him directing live news bulletins and becoming one of the station’s youngest directors.

Do I need prior photography knowledge?
No prior photography knowledge is required to undertake a Media and Communication Photography degree at UniSQ. Our photography courses are designed to accommodate students with varying levels of experience. We provide a comprehensive curriculum that covers the fundamentals of photography, including technical skills, composition, lighting, image editing, and more. Whether you are a novice or have some prior photography experience, our courses offer a supportive learning environment to develop your skills and knowledge.
What skills can I develop with a photography degree?

The skills and attributes you will develop when you study photography with UniSQ will be transferable to many roles and industries.

Composition: Learning how to compose an image effectively is a critical skill for any photographer. You will learn how to use the elements of composition, such as line, shape, form, and colour, to create visually appealing images.

Lighting: Lighting is another essential skill for photographers. You will learn how to use natural and artificial light to create dramatic and atmospheric images.

Post-processing: Post-processing is the process of editing and manipulating images after they have been taken. You will learn during your photography courses how to use software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance your images and bring out their full potential.

Business skills: With UniSQ photography degrees you will learn how to market your work and run your own business, from how to build a portfolio to how to network with other photographers.
