Agriculture and Environment

This graduate certificate provides an overview of a broad range of environmental, technical, political, social and scientific issues and innovations which can impact on agricultural production, as well as an overview of the biological and ecological principles to manage resources into the future.

Once you successfully complete all courses in the Graduate Certificate of Agricultural Futures program, you will receive full credit towards the Graduate Diploma of Science (Agricultural Science).

Education and Teaching

The Undergraduate Certificate of Child and Family Studies gives you an entry point to working with children and their families. It focuses on developing your knowledge of underpinning theory and practices to support wellbeing, and manage emotional and behavioural problems.

This certificate can provide an entry point and four units of credit towards the Bachelor of Education (Primary), which provides graduates with a qualification for teaching students in a classroom school settings.

This Undergraduate Certificate of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) offers an introduction to the key concepts, knowledge and skills that underpin the work of an early childhood educator. It balances theoretical understandings with practical considerations to start a journey towards being in educational and care settings, as well as classroom contexts.

This certificate is an entry point and four units of credit towards a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), which provides graduates with a qualification for working with children from birth to eight years of age.

You can take the four units of credit from this qualification and use it as an entry point to the Graduate Diploma of Education (Special and Inclusive Education) or the Master of Education (Special and Inclusive Education), which equips graduates with research skills that can be applied to a research project in special education work contexts.

The Graduate Certificate of Education (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)) will broaden your knowledge of the importance of language and your knowledge of contemporary English language teaching methodologies. It is designed for practitioners who are aspiring leaders in the field of English language teaching.

Engineering and Spatial Science

The Undergraduate Certificate of Engineering Fundamentals provides you with foundational knowledge of engineering systems, including a broad introduction to the industry, engineering design, engineering materials, and mathematics.

Successful completion of this qualification will enable entry and four units of credit towards the Diploma of University Studies (DOUS), Associate Degree of Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Science, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

This undergraduate certificate provides foundational knowledge of surveying and spatial science, including an introduction to the industry, spatial presentation, satellite positioning, problem solving, and mathematics.

Successful completion of the Undergraduate Certificate of Spatial Science Fundamentals will enable entry and four units of credit towards the Diploma of University Studies (DOUS), Associate Degree of Spatial Science, Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology, or the Bachelor of Spatial Science (Honours).

Nursing and Allied Health

The Graduate Certificate of Health Clinical Education focuses on developing your knowledge and enable you to facilitate learning in the clinical setting.

Once you successfully complete all courses , you will receive four units of credit towards the Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Clinical Education or General specialisations) or the Master of Nursing (Clinical Education or General specialisations). You may receive two units of credit if enrolling in other specialisations within the Graduate Diploma of Nursing or Master of Nursing.

Information Technology

The Undergraduate Certificate of Computing / Information Technology covers foundational programming knowledge, explores core information systems concepts, web creation, and software development tools.

Successful completion of this qualification will enable entry and four units of credit towards the Diploma of Science (DPSC).

The Undergraduate Certificate of Information Systems is an industry-oriented qualification focusing on assisting you to develop a broad range of skills to address both technical and business information systems issues.

The certificate will provide you with an opportunity to gain an understanding of the broader architecture of information systems and the and the principles of computer programming and of modern software engineering practice, while also developing an understanding of information system analysis and design in the business context.

The Undergraduate Certificate of Psychology Fundamentals provides you with foundation knowledge of psychology and a broad introduction to the practice of psychology.

Successful completion of this program will enable entry and four units of credit towards the Diploma of University Studies (DOUS), Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Psychology), or Bachelor of Science (Psychology Extended).

Sciences

The Undergraduate Certificate of STEM Foundations is your pathway to a career in the Sciences. It would particularly suit if you are considering a career change and want to enter into the world of science.

It provides an introduction to the skills and knowledge needed to pursue further study in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It explores numeracy, literacy, critical thinking and e-literacy demands of higher education studies and the professional workplace, and assists students who are new to higher education to transition into a university learning environment. 

Successful completion of this qualification will enable entry and four units of credit towards the Diploma of University Studies (DOUS).

How long will it take me?

USQ offers a suite of undergraduate and graduate certificate programs across a range of disciplines, each consisting of four courses. When you have completed all four courses, you will receive a university qualification for your resume.

You can choose to study one course at a time, or all four at once, allowing you to finish the short program within six months. The courses you complete in your short program count towards other USQ qualifications, reducing the time and cost of your next degree.
