How to apply

1. Make sure you meet the entry requirements

To be accepted into the Study Abroad and Exchange Program at USQ you must:

  • meet all pre-requisites and other course requirements for courses selected
  • be in good academic standing (for example GPA of 2.5 on a 4 point scale for the USA).

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you will have to show evidence of English Language Entry Requirements. The most common English language proficiency tests are IELTS and TOEFL examinations. If you cannot sit one of these tests, USQ will accept the following tests / scores: 

Country Score
Germany German students may submit a DAAD language test with no score lower than a B
Denmark A grade of 7 or better at level B Senior High School English, within 5 years of the program commencement date
Netherlands A grade of 8 or above on completion of 6 years of English at High School, within 5 years of the program commencement date
Norway A grade of 4 or above in English in the upper secondary school, level 2, within 5 years of the program commencement date
Sweden A grade of 4 or above in English in the Senior School Studies, within 5 years of the program commencement date

2. Fill out the Application Form, with attached documents

Include with your application, certified copies of academic transcripts and English language results (if required). A teacher, lawyer, police officer or someone else of authority can certify your documents with an ink stamp clearly displaying their name and title.

Note: All documents must be translated into English and original documents must not be sent.

When do I need to apply?

This will depend on what semester you wish to study:

Semester 1 (March-June):  Application to be received by 30 November (of the previous year)
Semester 2 (July-November):  Application to be received by 31 March.

Has my application been successful?

Most applications are processed within 48 hours. Once you application has been processed and you have been successful, an offer package will be sent to you. You will then need to:

1. Return your Acceptance of Offer form

Read all of the information contained within our offer package. Complete and return the Acceptance of Offer form by the due date.

2. Confirmation of Enrolment

Once we receive your Acceptance of Offer, USQ will issue an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE).

3. Apply for your visa

Take your Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) to the nearest Australian Diplomatic Post to apply for your student visa. Study Abroad and Exchange students apply for the Non-Award student visa

Students from some countries will be able to apply online for their visa. Further information can be found on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website.

Note: If you need to arrange airport pickup and/or accommodation, please complete and return the appropriate forms (as indicated on your electronic Offer Letter).
