Overview

  • Courses in the Liberal Studies major in the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies span across natural sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. 
  • You’ll learn how to use knowledge and skills from one discipline to problem-solve in another, preparing you for future careers that expect graduates to step outside of their comfort zones.
  • Develop an understanding of how your identity is shaped by society and how you can, in turn, contribute to the evolving structure of society.
  • Create your own unique study path by combining additional courses with the Liberal Studies major from across the University (subject to meeting any pre-requisite requirements) to reach your career goals.

Graduates from a Liberal Studies major build valuable, transferrable skills and may seek employment in business, government, non-profit organisations, social services, politics, art and entertainment, or educational institutions.

Entry requirements

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C) 

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

  • Depending on your area of interest, some majors or disciplines may require further assumed knowledge.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
