Noah

An easy decision to study at UniSQ.

Finishing school and transitioning into university can be daunting. For Noah Humber, first-year Engineering student, he felt at home from day one at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ).

The decision was an easy one for Noah, he knew he wanted to study mechatronic engineering and not many universities offered this degree. Since Noah selected UniSQ as his first preference in QTAC and got an ATAR of 88 or above, he automatically received UniSQ’s Vice Chancellors Excellence Scholarship valued at $20,000.

Being Noah’s second year of university, he couldn’t be happier with the support and hands on approach to his degree.

'It was an adjustment to studying some of my degree online. However, UniSQ is one of the best university’s in this space, since they were already online before COVID-19. The support was already there and in place. There was always someone contacting me to see how I was going.'

'I love that UniSQ has smaller class sizes, rather than a big class, as I get to have a conversation with my lecturer. Of course, at other universities you get to know your classmates, but here you are more hands on and in my practical or tutorial classes I’m always sitting next to someone I know and can connect with.'

Noah says there’s a lot of great things he could say about UniSQ, most importantly though, 'It’s less daunting than you realise. It’s more of a community here at UniSQ, you feel included and you’re never pushed aside.'
