  • Are you interested in a career in early childhood education? UniSQ’s Bachelor of Early Childhood will give you the attributes required in the early childhood education and child care sector.
  • With an emphasis on the knowledge, skills, practices and values inherent in contemporary understandings of best practice in early childhood education, you will be well positioned to work with children and families in an array of early learning environments.
  • With UniSQ, you will have the chance to study your early childhood degree online, on-campus, or a combination of both.
  • You will receive practical career experience with 80 days of targeted professional experience placements in a variety of settings. International and domestic students are required to attend the majority of placements in settings within Australia.      
  • Completion of the Bachelor of Early Childhood provides seamless entry into the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), enabling you to receive teacher registration.
  • Already have an early childhood qualification from TAFE or another recognised provider? UniSQ may be able to offer you recognition for prior learning to help you finish your degree faster.

Professional accreditation

This program is approved with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Our Bachelor of Early Childhood does not qualify for teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. If you are looking for teacher registration, we recommend studying the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood).

Career outcomes

  • As a graduate, you will have the skills, knowledge and experience required to work in a range of prior to school learning environments, including early education and care centres and family day care programs as a director, educator, supervisor or as a group leader.

Entry requirements

  • Subject pre-requisites: English (Units 3 & 4, C), General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent
  • Year 12 science subject (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent

Note: All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of professional experience placements within this degree.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 7.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

You will also need to complete 80 days of professional experience to gain valuable practice in early childhood services and classrooms. These experiences provide you with opportunities to put theory into practice.

All students must be able to meet the professional requirements expected of early childhood professionals within this degree.
