Personal pronouns

• Do not use the personal pronoun you (and related forms your and yours) in academic writing.
• Avoid I (and, in some disciplines, we) and their related forms (check with your tutor or lecturer).
• You can use the passive voice, but do not overdo it. It can make your writing more difficult to understand.
