Use visual aids effectively

Using visual aids

  • Use tools, e.g., PowerPoint to:
    • add realism, visualise abstract concepts, reinforce main points, illustrate complex information.
  • Don’t read from slides.
  • Speak to audience, not visual display.
  • Sequence and time to sync with talk.
  • Limit to key moments.
  • Allow time for audience to view and respond.
  • Have back-up e.g., handouts.
