Critical writing

Scholarly writing

Scholarly writing uses evidence to develop reasoned arguments.

Use evidence to:

  • substantiate you claims
  • test and develop ideas
  • refute contradictions to your claims
  • present an academic debate.

Choose evidence appropriate to discipline, e.g., quotations in literature; experimental data in science. Cite all sources.

Critically read your own writing.
